Day Trip to Washington D.C.

Hello hello! It’s been SUCH a long time since I’ve posted (ugh, sorry 😦 ). But this past weekend, my boyfriend and I took advantage of the awesome weather and took a day trip to Washington D.C.

I’ve never done a travel post before, but I really do love exploring new places. I’ll be sharing some photos from the trip and provide some information about restaurants and things to do in the city!

When driving through Maryland, there are LITERAL clouds you have to go through. Super pretty during the day, absolutely terrifying at night. So be prepared and drive with caution!
George Washington Memorial Parkway – scenic views and right across the river from Georgetown University!

Before making the drive, I actually bought a parking spot online so that I would be reserved a spot just incase the garages were packed that day. The app I used was called ParkWhiz and it was extremely easy to use. It was so nice knowing ahead of time exactly where to park so that we didn’t have to worry about not knowing the way of the roads or have to pay a ton for a garage.

Sorry for the snapchat filter, but this is actually right off of Dupont Circle! There were so many restaurants to chose from right after we parked but we first stumbled across this little place called Cafe Dupont!

The next few pictures are from our sight seeing during the day! Everything we saw or did was free, so absolutely perfect for the med student budget.

  1. White House
  2. Washington Monument
  3. WWII Memorial
  4. Reflecting Pool
  5. Vietnam War Memorial
  6. Korean War Memorial
  7. Capital Building

I don’t think there is any wrong way to view the monuments, but this way seemed easiest to us! We walked from Dupont Cafe to the White House, about a 25 minute walk, but it was fun to take in the city by foot! We then walked from 1 to 6, taking so many pictures and sat on benches along the way to just enjoy the time.

Then, we decided to take the DC Circulator, a bus that goes around the National Mall for only $1, to the Capital Building. This was my favorite monument we saw so I’ve probably included a few too many photos 🙂

After all the monument seeing, we went to dinner and then finished the tour with going to the National Archives, which I had never seen before. It was so neat to see the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution! I couldn’t stop making National Treasure and Nicholas Cage jokes about stealing the Declaration of Independence hehe.

Then we finished the day with seeing John Mulaney – one of our fav comedians!!!

At John Mulaney’s Kid Gorgeous tour 🙂

I had such an amazing day exploring a super fun city! I could totally see myself living in D.C. in the future!

If I missed something fun, let me know!! I want to visit D.C. sometime in the near future again 🙂
